Dr. Rashad Alfkey, Assistant Professor of Surgery, Alazhar University Egypt. He is also a Senior Consultant of Surgery at HMC, as well as Director of Wound Services at Hamad General Hospital (HGH) and Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital (HMGH). He is the Director of Quality for the acute care surgery section in Hamad General Hospital; he is also a member of many hospital committees including the program evaluation committee, perioperative quality group, best care always team, and Sepsis Prevention team.
Prior to joining his current position at HMC Dr. Rashad was a lecturer of General and Laparoscopic Surgery at Alazhar School of Medicine, Cairo, Egypt. Dr. Rashad obtained his MD (Medical Doctorate (Ph.D.).) from Alazhar School of Medicine, Cairo, Egypt in 2004 and joined HMC as a specialist of general and laparoscopic surgery and is now a senior consultant with extensive experience.
He is a member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), Vice President of the American College of Surgeons Qatar Chapter, Member of the American College of Wound Care and Tissue Repair (AWCT), a member of the EWMA (European Wound Management Association), and The Association for Surgical Education. Dr. Rashad is an instructor of clinical surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar since April 2012. He has published two books in Arabic (Medical and Memorial Aspects of Fasting, 2003 and Uses of Laser in Medicine and Surgery, 2001) in collaboration with Prof. Ahmad Alnaghy, professor of Physics, in the Faculty of Science, Cairo University. He published many articles in national and international journals and is a regular speaker at national and international conferences. A strong advocate for education, he also participated in more than 40 national and international surgical conferences.
Dr. Rashad is interested in the history of medicine and science and is a member of the American Association of the History of Medicine. He was Awarded The Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research and Technology Award for the simplified scientific writings for youth in 4 subjects (Laser light, Microbiology, Genetic Engineering, and Life in the 21st century).
